December 31, 2015 ~ The year in review...in pictures
October 26th, 2015 ~ I LOVE HALLOWEEN!! Scary movies, carving pumpkins, decorating the house with giant spiders....It's so FuN!!! Lexington Kentucky comes alive (or zombie-dead ~ if you read below you'll understand) in October. First there's Keeneland horse racing all month. Then, this year there's the Breeder's Cup Festival, leading up to the big races on the 30th-31st. Downtown has been redesigned to be more pedestrian friendly. Streets are closed off and instead, for the week, are fair-like food vendors, and artsy booths and whatnot. Enrique Gonzales and Agustine Zarate are painting live at Parlay Social all week, galleries are holding special events ~ It's a pretty big deal!! And for me the topper is the Thriller Production!! This year 1200 zombies wandered the streets during the pre-Halloween parade festivities, moaning, groaning, and scaring the crowd as they lurched along. Slowly but surely they all "died"...if zombies do such a thing. They lie there on the sidewalks, draped over curbs, and propped up in doorways during the March Madness performance and Halloween parade until . . . Thriller began. That's when they came to LIFE again! 1200 zombies and 5 Michael Jacksons danced down Main Street while thousands watched! So much fun! Did I mention I LOVE HALLOWEEN?!?! I think I'll leave my skeletons up all year again ;~)
On personal and ARTSY note - Just got back from Denver where I spent a few days painting Gypsy, THE CAMPER! It's my favorite piece of art I've ever done! Ok, they all take turns being my favorite, but I'm thrilled with the results! Click on the link to see pics and find a link to how I did it. Contact me if you are interested in hiring me to paint something for you!
Through the month of October, 4 paintings - 3 city scenes and one horse (it's BLUE)- are hanging at The Blue Stallion on 3rd Street here in Lexington. After that, it's the Lexington Gallery Hop in November! Last chance to come see all the artsy offerings before Christmas and the Holidays!! And if you happen to be in Nashville, stop by The Fuselage on Gallatin Rd. They've got some amazing stuff there, and are carrying my jewelry right now! Hope to see you out and about! Let me know if I can create a little piece of HaPpY for you!

SEPT 16, 2015 -NEWS FLASH!!! Thursday September 17th at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time I'll be doing an interview on WKYT to promote the Artists' Attic and Gallery Hop in downtown Lexington. Just found out tonight, Wednesday night. I'm super excited and even more nervous. I hope I say the right things. Eeeek! Tune in to see how it all goes down!! After this, THEN I'll tell you how the month of August and the trip to Mexico went. (spoiler alert: IT WAS FABULOUS)
July 21, 2015
Well, 7 months in to the NEW YEAR now. Gah!! Time has flown!! So I guess the biggest news is...um... A new project coming up! So far this year, I have painted city scenes, made a sign for Caldo at Centered (see pics below), made new jewelry, and traveled to Dominica for a Scuba trip, where I purchased some beautiful Jasper and Agate. (Oh, and did my first "Wall" dive!) I have been practicing my stone setting using my pretty new stones, and some that my hubby brought back from Myanmar. Up next, HOLBOX, MEXICO! My new project is to complete one piece of artwork per day in August. It may be jewelry, or painting, or sketching, or photography, but something has to be created everyday. I'm preparing for this by getting my watercolors out to take with me when I'm working, and espcially to Mexico. I have a feeling this trip will be pretty spectacular. So check back after the first week of August and see what new stuff I am creating! Very exciting times!

Let's start the new year with some fun jewelry! I have some new pieces at Centered in Lexington, including bookmarks, necklaces and rings. All hand crafted from wire and sheet metal, with added beads and some recycled things...even a mini-light bulb!

Update June 26th!!! Hanging my artwork in The Sweet Spot on Broadway through July. Still have several paintings on the wall here and hope to add a couple more in the next 2 weeks. However, inventory is dwindling! Sold 2 paintings out of there on the 20th! One of them is going to New York, purchased from a couple who was just passing through Lexington on their way home from Bowling Green and decided to stop for dinner. So happy that they fell for my "True Love Soars" painting! That one is special to me, since I wrote that for my True Love before I even met him. I can't seem to find an image of that one right now. >:-/ The other one that sold is "Music Remembers", which is going to a lucky husband for their 39th anniversary!! I'm quite proud to be involved in their celebration. Congratulations Bill and Colleen!!

June 20th - Gallery Hop Lexington - Many places around town to go and see local art and music. My studio in The Artists' Attic will be open with all the other fabulous artists there. I will also have the art hanging at the Sweet Spot, where you can find some Truffle Cakes (German Chocolate is my FAV!), coffee, ice cream, and yummy lunches!
