I love this time of year. There's so much going on!! Vacations, barbecues, festivals...all kinds of fun! I've been bitten by the creative bug, again, and have come up with some new techniques and new ideas. One thing that keeps showing up around me is the presence of birds. At the beach this weekend, one of my favorite activities was sitting on the deck listening to a mockingbird sing. Sitting on my new deck in my back yard, I could waste an entire day watching the birds at the feeders, and the pair of sparrows living in the birdhouse under the deck roof. Out for a run in Fort Myers last week, a crane let me get 3 feet away from him before he took flight. I read somewhere that birds sometimes symbolize the presence of angels. In the book, A Dictionary of Symbols, it says "birds, like angels, are symbols of thought, of imagination...pertain to the element of air...they denote 'height' and, consequently, 'loftiness' of spirit." I like that! Whatever they symbolize, they bring a sense of peace, romance, frivolity, and beauty to my life. For that I am grateful, and inspired. Check back soon to see what unfolds in my studio...

Goodbye April showers! Bring on the May Flowers!!! Spring is in full swing and I'm so happy to finally be "where the weather suits my clothes". :-) Our gardens are planted, war with the squirrels has been declared, and the deck has been built (thanks to, Theo and his mad carpenter skills!). Getting settled in at the new digs, and getting more inspired the more I unpack.
Remember that Mother's Day is just around the corner!! Just finished 5 heart pendants that are up for grabs- email me for details! Be creative, be love, and be happy... d Spring is here!! So happy to see some hint of warmer weather, flowers coming up, and outdoor activities beginning. Something about sunshine and spring color inspires me and pushes me to do SOMETHING, anything, creative. So here's 5 things popping up in MY life...what's growing in yours???
*rented the moving truck and transported all my STUFF to my new home,Lexington, KY. I've finally admitted that I have too much STUFF!! Hello, Craig's List??? *started seeds inside- squash, tomatoes, zucchini, corn...and they're sprouting!! *my first participation in Lexington's Gallery Hop will be April 19th! Stop by Clark Art and Antiques if you're in the area! *adding more jewelry on Whimsythings that can be purchased online. Taking me some time, which is elusive, but slowly they're getting posted. *making our first batch of BEER! Ok, I didn't do much, but I was there, supporting the process, and Beer Master Theo! Would LOVE to hear what's happening creatively in your world. Remember, even making dinner is a creative endeavor! With love- d I learned several years ago that in the process of creation, there's always an ugly stage. There's always a point where you look at what you're "making" and say, "Eeeew..." and want to either toss it or erase it. I also learned that continuing on with your plan, no matter how hard or how much you need to tweak the process, is almost always the best thing you can do.So here's my advice - hang in there, keep doing what you love, and finish what you start. That's my philosophical "art is like life" snippet for the night. Sweet Dreams! Good morning! Here's my 5 points for the day! *Made it on my commuter flight by about 1 minute before they shut the door. Got home, finally! Time to get busy in the studio! *The pic at left is the start of a custom ordered double wrap bracelet. I finished it and got it in the mail. Will post a picture after she receives it. Don't want to ruin the surprise! *Going to finish setting up the display for my booth at Clark's Art and Antiques in Lexington, KY. I have a 7x6 foot area with wall space up about 15 feet or so. Very excited about this! The shop is on the Gallery Hop tour April 19th, and they hold events frequently, too. *My daughter is coming to visit and see my new digs in Kentucky. Can't wait to see her and show her around. Maybe I'll get her to plant something, grow it in her honor. Which brings me to the other creative endeavor... *Started working on our garden! We are growing EVERYTHING. Corn, squash, spinach, carrots, tomatoes, kale, peppers, etc., etc. I'm gonna go put on my overalls now. 1 Easy day at work. TSA is still defending their decision to allow knives on the plane.
2 Ready to go home and make some stuff! I have some new ideas, cuffs, pendants, maybe a ring... 3 Am also ready to go home and put my booth together at Clark's Art and Antiques! 4 I increased my vacation pay by almost 10 hours. That's cool! It means I'll be off about half the month! Plan to start a garden, build a deck, and get some stuff started for my jewelry biz. 5 I am rotting my mind with Family Guy as we speak. Yay! Is it really March? Amazing how fast time goes by. Really... So I've come across a really good idea for this blog. 5 highlights. That's it. 5 bits from each day that describes what went on. So... with that in mind, here goes... 1 Slept in at the crash pad in Chicago, but woke up way too early anticipating the "snowpocalypse..".At 9 a.m., it was not even snowing, nothing on the ground to speak of. 2 Spent 2.75 hours bidding for April, which is a vacation month. Very intricate and mind-boggling, but will see how it turns out tomorrow at 12. 3. searched the crashpad for boots I could borrow so I could walk .5 miles to the Top View to eat a late breakfast. Found some rainboots in the other room, hoped I wouldn't piss anyone off by using them, then went to grab some grub. Two words...omelette and pancakes. And a 3rd - coffee. 4 Spent the day watching the snow accumulate, perusing Facebook, and getting angry about TSA decisions. They have decided that they are going to allow people to bring on small (2" x 1/2" blades) knives on board. Box cutters are still illegal, since there es an emotional element associated with them, but knives are ok. No, REALLY, seriously, it's true. 5 After watching 2 episodes of Girls, on HBO, I am really happy to be in my 40s, and my boyfriend ROCKS. That's it for today. Maybe tomorrow I'll talk about something art related. Goodnight, and sleep well - Sweet Dreams! d Good morning! I feel oh so productive today! It's day number 3 of being on reserve, or "on call" for you laypeople. Usually I get a trip the first day and I'm off on an adventure, soaring through the air at 40k feet, meeting lots of people, staying in some fancy hotel, eating fabulous hotel food, looking fabulous in my new uniform dress... Oh yeah, and "working". ;) However, it's the slow time of the year, so I haven't been used at all. I've been at the crashpad, essentially alone for 3 nights and almost 3 days...(2 days,13 hrs, 26 minutes...27...) After spending most of the first day on Facebook, watching TV, and constantly checking my schedule to see if they were going to assign me something, I finally got busy doing some things that I've desperately needed to do. I started with banking stuff...paying bills, budgeting. I ran to the post office. I rearranged the small appliances and tv in the kitchen/living-room at the CP...then I spent some time on Pinterest. Long story short (ha) I found WEEBLY webpage designer. It's free and so easy to use, I just jumped right in and Voila!! I finally have a website done. Yay!!!! I will continue to edit and add things as I learn about all the options I have on here, and hopefully it will stay interesting. My intention is to use this primarily for promotion of my jewelry designs and I hope to have a "store" set up soon. I guess this is the month of being forced to have downtime so I can get things done. The universe makes things happen in strange ways, that's for sure. For example - I had to call in sick this month because I got --- PINK-EYE!! Oh, yeah. Not once, but twice in 2 weeks. I'd post a picture, but my vanity and pride prevent such a thing. Who freakin gets pink-eye at 44??? Me. But because of that, I cleaned out my attic, my garage, sold half of my belongings on Craig's List, put stuff in a garage sale, installed a hammock chair on the back deck, and hung some curtain thingys in my bedroom. Whew! All of these things I've been meaning to get done when I had time, but that has been really hard to come by lately. I guess all my complaining about how overwhelmed I've felt was heard and duly noted, and my prayers for time were answered. I'm just glad I didn't choose to use that time doing something silly, like sleeping in, playing with my dogs, or sitting in the new chair on the back deck watching butterflies. Sigh... ;)
Oh! Scheduling just called! Going to MSP and back! Yippee! Leaving you with this thought - Life becomes what you intend it to be. ♥ d |
